Now we were really worried about the wind. Worried because I knew that today we would have to go 100km on gravel roads. With this wind one would be just pushed off the road because the tires wouldn’t find any grip on the gravel. The friendly older guy from the hotel told us, you can stay here, stay with us, wait that the wind calms down. But somehow we wanted to push further also due to the fact that internet was a catastrophe in this town (if we would have known at that time that it would be not better in El Chalten, we would have stayed, I guess). We had very strong wind but the offroad section was mostly embedded in a hilly area which protected us a little bit. Still hard to drive and sometimes the front wheel dug itself into the gravel because of this angular driving. We were just back on tarmac when the rain started. The last 80km to El Chalten we ducked down behind the cockpit, or better I ducked behind the cockpit and Ying ducked herself behind my back. While flying with 150km/h through the grey landscape along the lake Viedma I felt the rain coming through my leather gloves and going up the arms. I was not in the mode to stop for putting on the rain gloves. But the bike was in the mode. I was already 40km on reserve but it couldn’t be. When the bike went dead I shook the bike and heard the gasoline in the tank. I pushed it to the ground in order to get the rest from one side to the other side of the tank and the motor started again. Happiness all over in the rain. But something is wrong, I have to check. We found a nice and sweet Bed & Breakfast which was really a gift in the rain and approx. 5°C.
In the desert and all of a sudden this green lake. Later we discovered that all these lakes are fed by glaciers.
Ohooh...sand in the air..again.
Lunch in the ditch...the only chance that your cheese doesn't fly from your bread.
Finally tarmac!!!
