4th of June - Cuenca to Banos - 350km 7h15

« Back to journal

Hiking with views of Banos. Banos is located at the foothills of one of the most active volcanos in Ecuador, the Tungurahua.

On a more remote trail we went up to the Casa de Arbol. Heavy rainfall and sadly no sights of the Tungurahua...

...but we enjoyed the tour anyway.

Back in Banos

I forgot the names, but she owns this small Cafe and he is a Cuban emigrant and helps her out...but he drunk more than we.

The closing hour passed already, so we had to sneak out of the window :-)

The next day we made the tour to the cascades. For the adrenalin seeking people there are zigzag lines over the canyon...

The most impressive cascade "Pailon del Diablo"

In order to reach some more remote waterfalls we started a small jungle tour. Once you are off the beaten track you don't meet anyone.

But we were not able to make it to the waterfall. We didn't want to experience the jungle in the darkness :-)
