Despite the developments the evening before I had a good rest and I enjoyed walking around in Elista in the morning.
After a Cai and some bread I started towards Astrakhan. I enjoyed the more or less straight road through grasslands, some agriculture in between, sheep and cow herds without attendance (at least I didn’t see anyone), freely moving also across the road :-)
Later followed shallow lakes and rivers with some small fisher villages, fishermen selling their dried fish at the road. I reached Astrakhan around 4pm and Vladimir a friendly motor-cyclist with his girlfriend on the back of his customized FAZR “picked me up” and guided me to the center and a hotel with Volga view. What did he say when I thanked him: we are all bikers…:-)
The next morning “I had the chance” to see a Russian hospital from inside. After several tries of the receptionist Adele to get a private clinic for me for curing my symptoms I ended up in the local ambulance which brought us (Adele as the translator) to the hospital of Astrakhan. They wanted to keep me there for 3 to 5 days…you should have seen that place or better not. OMG! In the end we agreed on some quick analysis’. Without translator it wouldn’t have worked at all I guess. Now I take 3 different medicines a day and I do hope that these will cure me finally.
For tomorrow I plan the border crossing to Kazakhstan. I cross my fingers…:-)
There is not much between Elista and Astrakhan but I liked it!
The Volga in Astrakhan
The Astrakhan Kremlin (1 tiny part of it:-)
Yep...also here they have sunsets. Beautiful!
