24th of December- Mendoza
« Back to journal
We didn’t see the signs and we didn’t think. On the streets we didn’t see much about Christmas. Opposite to Chile where everywhere was the “Kitsch”.
Siesta 1pm to 4pm. Okay, we stayed in the hostel anyway outside too hot.
And after 4pm the whole city was dead. No food no drink, nada. We are so stupid. What did we think? That the Argentinians don’t celebrate X-Mas? Ha Ha Ha!
After 3 hours of search we gave up and sat down at a Kiosk which we think was the only open place in Mendoza to get drinks and some prepared sandwiches. At the other 5 tables other tourists which we partially saw before on the deserted streets also looking for something and some stranded Argentinians.
These Kiosk guys did their business of the year. From everywhere cars and people came and buying booze and other stuff at this place.
