21st of May - Trujillo to Pimentel

Trujillo. We reached this town during the rush-hour  when the car drivers were wild and pushy.

In the evening tranquilo..

The archeological site Chan Chan. Pre Inka, around 1.300 AD approx. 30.000 people lived here during the Chimu empire.
Everything was built with brickearth. Today the preservationists are fighting against the El Niño effects and the climate change...

When we saw the first naked skin dog we thought of skin problems...but we saw many more. Seems to be just an ugly race:-)

Whenever I saw Pelicans (and many of them!) over the past 4-6 weeks they were moving south. If they are migrant birds why they move south when the winter approaches? My best guess is that this has something to do with the ocean currents.

Dana and Felix joined our daytour to Chan Chan, Playa El Mogote in Huanchaco...

These canoes are still in use by local fishermen.

...and on the way back in the local bus.

As we left Trujillo the next day all the car drivers were friendly to us and no one pushed us. On the contrary, they gave way always. At every stop we were asked where we come from, where we go...smiles and thumbs up. So we left the town in peace :-))
