We started early from Latacunga where we spent the night. Target for today was the "Quilotoa loop" via Saquisili, Sigchos and Chucchilan.
Because the normal road or better earth track was closed due to road constructions right after Chucchilan we had to take a detour via La Moya.
Beautiful!
Finally we reached the Quilotoa crater lake with its small village settled right behind the rim. Only indigenous people run Hostals here and we were lucky that we found a good one (Chukirawa) with hot water and even a lit stove for the night. On an evlevation of 4.000m quite essential :-)
And with parking!
We got some overactive local guests from Quito the same night. Anyway awake in the morning we watched as well the sunrise at the crater.
After breakfast we started our round tour on the crater rim. A beautiful five hours hike.
Freezing cold in the morning
Cotopaxi at the horizon
